Cool Tools For Your Bar
We do a lot of talking about having commercial tools for your kitchen, but what about commercial tools for your bar? Let’s face it folks, when it comes to having a bar in your house, wet just isn’t enough anymore. So what’s the most important ingredient behind your bar? Okay…it’s the booze. No denying that one. But what’s the second most important ingredient? Naturally, it’s the cool stuff. Sure, having drinks is fun, but if you’re the bartender at your own house, behind your own bar, making the drinks can be a blast. It should be fun. Get creative. Look professional.
Here are a few key cool tools that will make your bar one your friends will remember.
The Muddler: Old-fashioned drinks are back in vogue folks, which means the Old Fashioned, too. No using pre-mixes. If you’re going to do it right, you have to bust out your sugar cubes and get muddling. Don’t worry, though, it’s easy, it’s fun, and the drinks will taste better than ever.
The Martini Shaker: For obvious reasons, an absolute must have. Really, what if James Bond shows up? You’re going to want to have Martini glasses, too. They don’t have to be gigantic either. Remember, old fashioned is back in. Back in the…old fashioned days, Martini’s were just 6-8 ounces.
The Jigger, The Shot Glass or The Spill Stop Pourer: Do you really have to measure? No. Is it a good idea to measure? Yes. If someone says “three fingers,” that’s fine, but many cocktails require specific measurements. Variations can dramatically change the outcome. If you want to look like a pro, practice using your Spill Stop with your Jigger or your shot glass. Pretty soon you will know exactly how long it takes to pour an ounce, or an ounce and a half.
The Blender: Brandy Alexander’s here we come! Our advice, get a good one. Look for 1.5-2 HP. It might be a little more power than you need at home, but it’ll give you more versatility (think juicing), and it will make your blended drinks in a jiffy.
The Bottle Opener: We prefer the stationary opener with the bottle cap catcher underneath. It’s fun, it’s fast, and most importantly, it looks cool.
Happy and Safe Drinking!!!
